Thank you for expressing interest in the "Family's First " ~ parent workshops & Co-Parenting Classes

 

* the intended outcome of the program is to provide behavior changes in parents: that help their children succeed in school. The parent being the child,

first teacher, Want's for the success of the child, and school; Which in turn will 

enhance and elevate the community.

 

* Using the PESA ( http://www.lacoe.edu) curriculum, the parent education program, based on research showing that parents expectations are the greatest predictor of their children's educations success. The program teaches techniques to help raise a child s academic performance, Improve communication with the family and enhance self-confidence.

 

*research shows that Prisons are based on children's 3rd-grade reading levels.

 

*Parent workshops implemented strategically through the community will be able to make a "ripple" effect!

 

* The parent workshops are implemented at county-based programs too.  Oxnard College/Cal-Works program. United Parents of Ventura Co.  Project Access.

 

 *Timeline is 6 weeks per workshop and are 2 hours - Once a week for 6 weeks

the workshops are small 8-10 parents.

We believe the parent is the child's first teacher, and by elevating the child's education, The empowerment of parents will work to change the quality of life by providing an academically enriching environment, we can efficiently and effectively, strength communities!
